Description: This position will be responsible for developing GIS applications, assisting teammates with GIS projects, ensuring consistency of products and ensuring the data and files are organized and maintained tin a manner to reproduce products.
Job Duties:
• Evaluate staff and agency GIS needs to develop functional and technical design (use cases), develop program code, assemble/compile code, test, and prepare the implementation plan for GIS applications within the agency
• When necessary, provide design specifications to other Nebraska agencies and OCIO programmers.
• Coordinate with the NDEE IT section and coordinate with GIS teammates on new agency GIS user setup requirements, access to GIS SQL servers, and GIS software installations, upgrades and maintenance.
• Assist the Agency with the development of maps during local and state emergencies. Assist NDEE teammates with mapping and data presentations
• Assist NDEE Teammates with ensuring data meets NDEE requirements and mapping is maintained in a consistent manner to ensure data and maps are reproducible and maintained.
• Work with other GIS analysts and NDEE IT during the application development and testing to ensure the application is consistent with existing applications and will meet the needs of staff and the agency.
• Interact (assist, review, comment and provide suggestions).
• Periodically monitor data entered by agency staff to ensure consistency and accuracy with GIS applications.
• Provide training to those using the software and GIS applications in the agency.
• Represent the Agency at quarterly GIS Council meetings.
