GIS Intern – Summer 2024:  Summer internship position available with the Cerro Gordo County GIS/Auditor Office.  Enhance your GIS skills using Esri products and utilizing your creativity in the production and implementation of ArcGIS Online Apps, Field Maps, Survey 123, and other Local Government solutions. Day to day activities may include (but not limited to) geospatial data creation and editing, collecting new or additional data from field sites within the County, and producing finished map products using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. This position will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to work on GIS projects for a variety of departments within the County.

Salary Range:  $17.00 per hour  FLSA:  Non-exempt

Job Summary:

Job Requirements:
Must have completed at least 1 year of college or be a recent graduate with a degree in GIS, Civil Engineering, Planning, Computer Science, Geography or related field. Must have a general understanding of fundamental GIS concepts and ESRI applications. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, develop and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, outside professionals and the general public, use standard office equipment, and possess the ability to work independently under general supervision and to pay attention to detail for prolonged periods of time.

Rate of Pay:
$17.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
 
Regular Hours:
Standard work hours will be Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Tentative Start Date:
May 2024 – Position will last approximately 17 weeks with a possible/flexible extension of 9 weeks (not to exceed 1040 hours total) employment.

Special Notes:
No remote work. Limited travel within the county by personal vehicle possible and will be reimbursed at the current IRS fuel rate. **Insurance liability information must be on file with the County, please confirm requirements before applying** Employees must meet the county’s minimum liability insurance requirements on your vehicle while driving on county business ($100,000 each person bodily injury; $300,000 each accident bodily injury; $100,000 property damage liability).
